Client
A global investment management firm with a broad digital footprint across multiple regional websites.
Challenge
The firm needed support moving website content from an older Sitecore environment into a newer, component-based Sitecore platform while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and continuity across regional websites.
Their website included a large volume of existing pages, regional variations, translated content, marketing materials, documents, factsheets, biographies, and other recurring digital content. Moving to the new environment created an opportunity to not only migrate existing content, but also review older materials, clean up outdated content, improve consistency across regions, and introduce a more standardized, component-based approach to website management.
- Large content volume: The migration involved a substantial amount of regional website content, including English and translated pages.
- Legacy content clean-up: Older or outdated materials needed to be reviewed to determine whether they should be migrated, updated, archived, or removed.
- Manual effort and duplication: Content updates often require manual handling, including updates across both old and new environments during the transition period.
- Inconsistent regional structures: Regional content had developed variations over time, creating an opportunity to improve consistency and reduce unnecessary customization.
- Known system limitations: Existing bugs and workarounds in the older environment made some tasks slower and more manual.
- Compliance and retention requirements: The transition provided an opportunity to apply clearer content retention rules and remove materials that were outside approved retention periods.
- Quality and formatting risk: Because pages needed to be rebuilt using new components, the work required careful checking to avoid missed updates, formatting issues, or inconsistent presentation.
Solution
The website migration presented a prime opportunity to go beyond a technical platform move and execute a broader content operations improvement effort – creating a cleaner, more consistent, and more scalable website environment for ongoing marketing and digital operations.
Integreon supported the entire project through structured execution, content handling, and thourough review.
- Website Content Migration
Integreon helped move content from all of the firm’s regional websites to the new Sitecore environment. While some content could be migrated in bulk, the updated platform introduced new components and formats, which meant many pages required manual review, rebuilding, recoding, or formatting checks before completion. - Dual-Environment Content Updates
During the transition, new content and updates needed to be managed for both the old and new environments. Integreon helped ensure that updates made in the legacy environment were also reflected in the new Sitecore environment, reducing the risk of content gaps during the migration period. - Ticket-Based Coordination
Details, pages, and updates were tracked through a Jira ticketing process, helping organize the work, support follow-through, and maintain visibility across different migration activities. - Content Clean-Up & Governance
The migration created an opportunity to review older website content and remove or exclude outdated materials. The new environment also enabled clearer content retention practices and content specific retention periods. Integreon provided content review, clean-up and governance support to improve organization and reduce unnecessary legacy content. - Component-Based Sitecore Support
The new Sitecore environment was component-based, reducing the need for manual coding and improving webpage consistency. Integreon supported this by helping rebuild and format pages using the new components, while checking content accuracy and layout consistency. - Accessibility & Formatting
The new platform also reduced manual effort related to accessibility-related coding. Integreon’s support helped ensure content was reviewed, formatted, and checked before completion or handoff. - Cross-Functional Execution
The work required close coordination with the firm’s technology, design, marketing, and content teams. Integreon provided execution-layer support to help keep recurring migration and content updates moving with structure, consistency, and operational discipline.
Results
Integreon’s support throughout the migration resulted in overall improvement of the website structure, greater content consistency, better organization and general manageability of the website environment.
- Improved website consistency:
34 regional websites were updated to the new Sitecore component structure, reducing unnecessary variation across regions. - Reduced manual coding effort:
The newer component-based environment reduced the need for manual coding compared with the legacy setup. - Improved site speed:
Improved site speed was reported following the migration, resulting from the updated platform and cleaner site structure. - Cleaner content environment:
Older, irrelevant, or out-of-retention content was reviewed and either updated, removed, or excluded from migration. - Stronger content governance:
Established retention periods of 10, 5, and 2 years, and cleaner content handling helped support a more controlled digital content environment. - Manual coding / accessibility:
The newer component-based Sitecore environment, including more built-in accessibility support, reduced the need for page-by-page manual coding. - Operational continuity:
Updates were managed across both the legacy and new environments during the transition to help maintain continuity and reduce the risk of missed updates.
