ILTA Reprise: Outsourcing in Law Firms and the Importance of Service Level Agreements
Outsourcing in Law Firms was the topic of a recent video interview at the ILTA Conference held in Washington, DC in August 2009. Integreon’s Ron Friedmann spoke with Shy Alter, of ii3, Inc., creator and producer of ILTA TV Live!, about outsourced “middle office” support services for law firms. According to Friedmann, what really distinguishes the concept of the middle office from the back office is the requirement for domain expertise, such as needed for outsourced attorney document review. Friedmann speaks to the strategic value of outsourcing for law firms in terms of both measurable cost savings and quality control. He also cites service level agreements (SLAs) as a real differentiator between the perceived quality control of a law firm’s existing internal processes vs. contractually documented QC procedures typically available through outsourcing alternatives.
